Top 3 Tips: How to Train New Hires For Success

Being great at building a business doesn’t always mean being great at building a team. Employee retention requires a whole different skill set, and employee turnover is so expensive. It can be embarrassing to admit, but employee retention is important and worthwhile to address. Many of us are far too occupied with the daily hustle and bustle of building a business to notice where our training style could use improvement. With our massive daily agendas, it’s common to become frustrated when new hires need things explained more than once. It’s also difficult to understand why we seem to keep hiring people who make the same mistakes over and over again. If this is resonating with you, there is a strong possibility that it’s time to dedicate more focus toward fully developing a more effective training style.

The purpose of today’s episode is to help business owners improve their employee retention rate. Our COO, Whitney Zaino, will share how she went from feeling like she had the world’s worst luck with new hires, to feeling like she has the best team in the world. She will also give you the Top 3 Tips for How to Improve Employee Retention.  She will share how she used these tips to create a robust training process that completely transformed her employees into a team that works cohesively towards the company goals, all while Whitney enjoys a front-row seat to their personal development.

For now, we’d like to give you Tip #1: Content Immersion

“Learning a new job is like learning a new language; total immersion is the fastest route to becoming fluent.” – Whitney Zaino, COO, Wealth Factory

Here’s a new hire rule to live by: Never make new hires interact with current or potential clients until they’ve been fully immersed into their role. This means they’ve demonstrated a total understanding of the mission and company values, and they are fluent in the language of the company. It’s also important that they can confidently articulate their own purpose within the company. What’s the best way to learn a new language? Total culture immersion. The key to total immersion when it comes to training a new hire is through A LOT of role-playing exercises. Role play is an excellent vehicle for immersion. It allows the new hire a margin of error, it’s a wonderful confidence booster as they begin to familiarize themselves with different scenarios they may encounter, and it prevents new hires from practicing on clients.

For a more in-depth look at how to noticeably improve employee retention rate and take your training skills to the next level, don’t miss out on watching the entire episode. We will talk in greater detail about Tip #1: Content Immersion, and also reveal all three Top Tips for How to Train New Hires For Success.
